Hello watch Russian lovers, I thought it would be a good moment to upload this thread here, as there is an openned topic of a watch with a Lada motif.
A similar article was written in the Spanish forum by myself time ago , so there is an update now. Be aware because it is written in an informal way , looking for an approach to the reader, forgive please also the mistakes as not being my native tongue.
While I was driving to the yearly car inspection test of the Lada Niva, I thought in paying homage to it and to the Russian watches at the same time, not any doubt, both are tough but simple and reliable tools.
They also share a similar story , the help from a foreign company by paying patents, and the further improvement by Soviets. Hampten Dueber , Lip in the watches case. And Lada (Autovaz) which got the Fiat help.

I am in the queue and for the occasion as I had several time left , I took a handful of watches, I am wearing an export Poljot -Sekonda right now.
I also took a Vostok 25th commemorative of the Lada ( autovaz) foundation . Autovaz was founded in 1966 AvtoVAZ – Wikipedia .

Having a Niva and loving Russian watches have made me taken some pics altogether,
Here below you have a Raketa Olympics, I believe one of the most grateful Russian watches to taking photos with.
On the background you can see the small headlights in a upper position, it is said the Mercedes G copied that idea.
The Niva has a very simple but efficient technology , you can see the scheme of the gears and the differential lock, with an early Vostok komandirskie with hacking system.
There is not any assistance on the steering wheel , you will need the two arms, the bigger is the steering wheel the better.

Out of curiosity ,the paperwork of the Niva and the radio room tells us they were made at the same year in 1.990
,Nivas are still being produced since 1977 without interruption.

At the background there is the temperature gauge of the cool water system, and two smalls lamps, the level of the oil breaks and the differential lock warning lamp.
Our Niva as the Sekonda are export units, I was told the inner Nivas have not wipers blade on the headlights.

Lada Niva was exported worldwide with the exception of the USA, as a proof I bought this shield through EBay in Mongolia.

Lada Nivas were equipped with a big endowment of tools, here below there is a Vostok Generaliskie automatic with a pressure gauge , spanners . The equipment included an air pump and even a crank starter for manually cold start -20º C or dead battery
